Introducing the architect team
The architect team is made up of Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, Maccreanor Lavington, Glenn Howells and Grant Associates (Landscape Architects).
The teams were invited to submit competition tenders jointly to encourage a design that is varied and locally distinct. Ballymore Group have selected architects who are very good at contextual design, as this is such a special sites and needs a considered approach.
“The historic yards to the south of Brentford High Street and the unique variety of canalised and tidal water spaces offer a fantastic opportunity to create a new neighbourhood with a strong connection to the heritage of the site.”
Maccreanor Lavington was established in London and Rotterdam in the early nineties. Projects range in scale and complexity from individual buildings to large-scale urban design. The office has developed considerable experience in the design of housing, mixed-use buildings, and neighbourhoods.
We have completed many award winning housing schemes, including Langerak in Utrecht, St Andrews in Bow and Accordia in Cambridge; receiving the 2008 Stirling Prize for Building of the Year.
Grant Associates is a Landscape Architecture consultancy specialising in the creative design of both urban and rural environments. We are involved in a number of forward looking projects across the globe, often working with the world’s leading architects and designers.
We have built up a reputation for innovative, ecologically based design and the ability to shape useful and sustainable landscapes with distinctive contemporary character. We are concerned with the connection between people and nature and since our inception we have been consistently involved in cutting edge design projects built around a concern for the social and environmental quality of life, searching for bold and imaginative solutions to complex and demanding briefs.
“AHMM are delighted to be leading the team for this rare opportunity in Brentford’s historic ‘yards’ neighbourhood. The unique waterside setting, rich mix of historic architecture and community desire to instigate real change makes for a positive and exciting challenge.”
At Allford Hall Monaghan Morris we (AHMM) work with ambitious clients across a broad range of sectors at different scales to produce buildings that strive to be exemplars in their fields.
We are part of a team where each member has a vital role, and most importantly we enjoy working with anybody who shares our belief that architecture can make a positive, inspirational but never overbearing contribution to the world around us.
